Hurricane Katrina Special Edition

Robert Danfield, a New Orleans native, tries to get a last glimpse of his devastated hometown as he and his family are airlifted in a C-130 Hercules to Ellington Field in Houston.  Danfield's wife, Deborah Glenn, was in desperate need of dialysis for a kidney disease.  The family was rescued from the attic of their home.  (Photo by Mark Greenberg)

"Our Total Force Airmen Medics were on the ground before Hurricane Katrina devastated the region and have since treated and moved thousands of people.  In doing so, they have also provided hope.  The nation will continue to count on them to aid their fellow Americans until this tragedy is resolved."

-- Lt. Gen. (Dr.) George Peach Taylor Jr.
   Air Force Surgeon General
